The
Bramha was first imported to Europe from North America
in 1852, initially known as ‘Chittagong’
or ‘Shanghai’ – it was later referred
to as the ‘Bramha’. Bramhas are beautiful
graceful birds and a firm favourite of mine. Although
large, they are very docile and tolerant which make
them ideal for children to handle. Due to their
build they are not at all flighty. Hens are easy
and reliable broodies, looking after their offspring
excellently. They are slow to mature, taking 12-18
months to reach adulthood – but the wait is
definitely worthwhile!!
I
currently breed Gold, Blue Partridge, and Dark.
