Orpington’s
are a true English breed, originating from the town
of Orpington in Kent. The black variety was the
first to be introduced in 1886, followed by the
white and then the buff. They are large docile birds,
with a bold and graceful carriage. They are friendly
chicken that love nothing better than pecking corn
from your hand, making them fantastic friends for
children. They do not fly so a low fence is more
than adequate to keep them confined. Their laid
back personality and full plumage makes the Orpington
a definite favourite.
I
currently breed black, blue and splash.
